AZ-900: Describe platform as a service (PaaS)

Cloud computing offers various service models to suit different levels of control, responsibility, and convenience. The three primary models are Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS). Each model provides a different balance of flexibility, control, and administrative effort.

Platform as a Service (PaaS)

PaaS abstracts much of the infrastructure and runtime management, allowing developers to focus on building and deploying applications without worrying about the underlying systems.

  • The cloud provider manages operating systems, databases, and infrastructure components.
  • Customers are responsible for developing, deploying, and managing applications and data.
  • PaaS is ideal for developers who want to streamline the software development lifecycle.

By offloading server management tasks, PaaS significantly reduces the operational burden.
